GENERAL RULES
Foreign citizens travelling to Brazil under a work contract must have a ‘Temporary Work Visa’ or a ‘Technical Assistance Visa’. The form for applying for a visa may be downloaded here (pdf file).
- Both visas require prior approval of the work contract, and subsequent authorisation, by the Ministry of Labour and Employment in Brazil, to which the employer has to address the relevant request
- Applicants must have lived in the UK for at least one year prior to the visa application
- Applicants intending to travel accompanied by spouses or children must present their marriage and birth certificates, for legalisation
- Only after receiving due authorisation from Brazil will the Consulate General issue a ‘Temporary Work Visa’ or ‘Technical Assistance Visa’
- Temporary Work Visas’ may be issued for a maximum of 2 years
- Technical Assistance Visas’ are issued for a maximum of 90 days
- First entry into Brazil must be within 90 days from the date the visa is issued (it is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure the application is lodged accordingly
- Within 30 days of arrival in Brazil, bearers of these types of visa must register with the Brazilian Immigration authorities (DPMAF) and submit the second copy of the visa application form, which will have been stamped and returned to them by the Consulate General
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Applicant’s passport, valid for no less than 6 months (Soiled, damaged or defaced passports will not be accepted)
- Two visa application forms, duly filled and signed by the applicant
- Two passport-size photographs
- For applicants of 18 years of age or above: Certificate of Prosecution/Conviction History (‘Technical Assistance Visa’ applicants are exempt of this requirement)
- Certificate of vaccination, where necessary
- Receipt of payment of the consular fee
