I have used Doctors and Dentists and found the ones I used very competent, price is something you need to speak directly to the professional to get an answer. If you are going to be in Brazil for some time you should look at getting some form of health insurance
I have always gone with recommendation and have not been disappointed. This is one of the reasons we have get-together’s here in Joao Pessoa, so people can exchange this type of information.
