Living in João Pessoa

City of Joao Pessoa Flag

Visiting a place is not the same as living in a place. When you live in a place the needs and pace are completely different. For this reason we have outlined some checks and balances to enable you to make the best use of your time.

Of course much of the information in the visiting section is also relevant but in this section you will find things more in tune with your daily needs. You will find guidance on where to live and work as well as how to get there. Advice on what and where to buy as well as how much it costs. Maps accompany many of the articles. You will even find tips on how to get here and some contact numbers to help you when you arrive.

Everything has been based on the experiences of those who have already settled down and drawn together on this website.

  1. Hi, I’m selling a small but cute, organized and self-sustainable English school at a good neighborhood in Joao Pessoa. If you live in JP and enjoy teaching English, it is a great opportunity. The house is big and can either serve as living quarters (which is what I do) with a separate entrance, or it has lots of room to expand the school. All furniture will be included in the deal, including refrigerator, stove, microwave, blender, water filter, double bed, armoire, etc etc etc. The school is fully functional with computer, printer, chairs and everything else. I had plans to stay in JP long term, but I need to go back to the US in september. Price US$16K.

  2. If interested, please email me at profnaia@gmail.com

  3. Hi there; Im Pablo and I am evaluating the idea to move to Brazil; I am an Guatemalan citizen living in California since 1990 but I didn’t change my citizenship, so I am still a Guatemalan; I want to know why are you selling your school and how much I can expect to make with the school (monthly) and tell me which one is the nearest big city or where is this place located. Also If you can send me some pictures it will be great; I am thinking to relocate in about 90 days. also give me some ideas to do the paperwork to live there. I read in the brazilian embassy page that as a guatemalan i don’t need a visa x the first 90 days; you can also call me at 661 313 3298 from 730 am to 730 pm pacific us time; thanks and I hope we can do business; I hope I will hear from you shortly. Pablo Sosa

  7. Hi Naia – I’m looking to move back north and would be interested. Could you send me what pictures you have available and whatever financial info (expenses/income) you have available for the school and property, etc. Looking to do something by the end of the year but September is possible for the correct situation. Where do you get most of your students? Has the supply of students been increasing with the economic conditions? Whatever general info you could supply would also be appreciated. Muito obrigada! Jorge
