Brazil Installed As Favourites For World Cup 2014

July 12th, 2010

The Selecao are finding favour with the bookmakers to reclaim the crown on home soil…

Hosts Brazil have been made 4/1 (5.0) favourites to reclaim the World Cup trophy on home soil in four years time. The Selecao, who are currently without a manager, were second favourites behind eventual winners Spain to win a historic sixth title in South Africa only to be eliminated at the quarter-final stage for the second tournament in succession.

New kings Spain are currently priced at 5/1 (6.0) by Titan Bet to successfully defend their crown in Brazil. History isn’t on their side as no team has won the World Cup back-to-back since Brazil in 1962. However, La Furia Roja ripped up the record books in South Africa by becoming the first European side to win the trophy outside of the continent and broke another spell by winning the crown despite losing their first game.

Argentina are 6/1 (7.0) to win their third World Cup on American soil as they go in search of a first crown since their Maradona inspired success in 1986. Germany are well priced at 7/1 (8.0) to build on their consecutive third place finishes at the last two tournaments and go one step further in Brazil with a fourth victory.

Defeated finalists Holland are 9/1 (10.0) to finally end their curse of three losing finals and claim the World Cup for the first time. Underachievers England are presently priced at 11/1 (12.0) to bring what will be 48 years of hurt in 2014 to an end with a long overdue world crown.

If you fancy the Three Lions to have a stinker and not qualify Titan Bet are pricing them at 7/1 (8.0) for Wayne Rooney and co to be watching the action in Brazil from the comfort of their sofa.

Former holders Italy are also 11/1 (12.0) to reclaim their crown in Brazil along with 1998 champions France, who are trading at the same odds. Portugal are 16/1 (17.0) to win their first World Cup in their former colonial territory.

The big outsider is Uruguay, who are a tasty 16/1 (17.0) to repeat their shock victory in Brazil back in 1950 with a third world crown.
