The director,José Targino Segundo Neto hopes these measures will increase the use of the park along with the flow of tourists and study groups. He remembers when he first took up the position in 2002, there were only 8000 visitors a year though he hopes that this will improve with the implementation of his new project. He adds that it would be a great loss to the Pessoense if the Jardim Botanico wasn’t well looked after.
