Sal and Brasa

Rua Fernando Luiz Henrique dos Santos, 713
(Point of reference; the return road to Manaira which runs opposite the Bessa beach road).

You can’t miss Sal e Brasa as you drive down to Manaira from Bessa as there is a huge red and white sign outside the restaurant. Plenty of parking on a huge plot of land to the left of the restaurant. You can leave your car with the uniformed staff and they will park it for you. The car park is monitored.

Before you enter the building you will see several joints of meat roasting in a glass cabinet to the right of the front door, a taste of things to come.
There is an entrance lobby and reception area in the true sense of the word. Very pleasantly furnished, with a cosy bar at the end of the room. They serve a huge variety of national and imported drinks as well as serving snacks.

We didn’t have to wait and were taken to a good sized table in the tastefully decorated main hall. I particularly liked the swirly pasta like light fittings. There was a buzz in the air with many large groups of people. The salad bar quite literally takes your breath away for its size and range of produce. The sushi fish bar was also well stocked for those not wishing to indulge in meat fare. The rice, chips, bread and beans with farofa came immediately. All we had to do was get up and choose our salad. Like a true churrascaria the meat keeps coming like the British at war; wave after wave of different cuts of meat, some with Parmesan cheese, others with garlic and as you want them medium, rare whatever. Flip the table disc to red and it stops.

The suited waiters check on the robed waiters, kitchen staff constantly checks the salad table.
There is a very casual, professional air about the place, relaxed but organised. Even the air-conditioning isn’t oppressive. We left content and without having broken the bank as it was only R$29 a head for the full churrasco (there are special offers from time to time). In fact, there was an air of contentment over the whole restaurant. Do you know that if they add a supervised play area then they will make a fortune. It would be even better for families.
